Receiving an inheritance, because a loved one suddenly passed away, will leave everybody behind with mixed feelings. Sonya Hunter has invested the amount in her new album and made fully use of this artistic freedom. She wrote nine out of ten songs (the only cover is "Tall Trees In Georgia" by her favorite Buffy Sainte-Marie) and also produced the album herself, together with Erik Pearson and Desmond Shea. Sonya has written the songs in the course of a few years, the "oldest" is about six, after a couple of changes everything suddenly fell into place. As the material already was played live every now and then, it got plenty of possibilities to grow, which only came to benefit the quality.
Sonya's voice is still astoundingly flexible as always, incredible what she does with it! She plays the acoustic guitar herself and is assisted by a number of good musicians, of whom Erik Pearson (Sonya's boyfriend) deserves an extra compliment. The alternative folkmusic sometimes goes into the direction of jazz, sometimes country.
A lot of attention is paid to the "packaging": digipack in beautiful bright (pastel-) colors, reproduction of a painting on the frontcover, artwork by Sonya inside and a fine, recent picture, with short hair!
