This version is my stab at it. Suggestions welcome...
Verse seems to be Am or some derivitive of it.
Try this for the intro as a reenactment for the fiddle:

To begin, strum this and hold: 000010
Pull-on and strum to make an Am: 002210
Throughout verses, I use a bastardized pull-off and picking pattern
and this terrible Am pull-on thing to fit the beat and
words of the song.

Am
I slept in our room, and I swore? (Last fall?)
And I slept with our ghosts painting the walls
And our happiness hung there like a mistake or a light
Truly you're gone
Wandering helplessly now we are We are
You You were gone
You You were gone
G                         F                               Am
You     You're gone      You     You're gone    You're gone

Am
I left all the lights on in our old
to pretend that you and I were home waiting up somewhere
For your boy
I'm not home    I'm not home anymore
You      You're not home anymore

G
You    You were gone
F
You    You were gone
G
Yeah you    You were gone

No love in the ghosts that we are
No love ever lost in the moor
Still waiting up somewhere, you are you are

G
You    You were gone
F
Yeah you    You were gone
G
Yeah you    You were gone
F
