NEVER GOING BACK ------------------------------------------------------------------------ When I set out on my travels, I was young and not too bright. In my Mother's words I was "wet behind the ears". The Blues Train came and took me so very far away, Opening up the door to worries, doubts, and fears. And yet somewhere on that journey I discovered this basic truth: "That we're all connected by a common thread." And my Father's words came back to me, about things to do each day, When he sat me down, this is what he said... "Before the sun goes down, remind yourself, 'you matter'. Before the sun goes down, thank somebody who cares. Before the sun goes down, ask a friend, 'How are you?' Because the seeds you plant today, are the blossoms of tomorrow." And now I'm breathing deep, I'm walking tall, I'm living "head-hassle free". It feels good enough to be a mortal sin. I just kicked the mental baggage, Locked the door and tossed the key, 'Cause I ain't never going back to blues again. So if you find your life less fruitful Than you'd hoped when you were younger, And you're smiling just to cover up a frown. Take a clean, fresh sheet of paper >From the "scratch-pad" of your mind; Sit back, relax, and then just jot this down... "Before the sun goes down, remind yourself, 'you matter'. Before the sun goes down, thank somebody who cares. Before the sun goes down, ask a friend, 'How are you?' Because the seeds you plant today, are the blossoms of tomorrow." And you'll be breathing deep, you'll be walking tall, You'll be living "head-hassle free". It'll feel good enough to be a mortal sin. Just kick the mental baggage, lock the door and toss the key, 'Cause we ain't never going back to blues again. Never going back to blues again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Copyright © 1994 Jim Hinde folkbone@mindspring.com
